As a student-led ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) initiative, we promote standardization education by focusing on the environment, the SDGs, and standardization, and by developing game-based educational materials on the subject.
Summary of Business
As part of student-led ESD (Education for Sustainable Development), we conduct educational activities focusing on the environment, the SDGs, and standardization. In collaboration with students, we develop game-based educational materials using ISO international standards and related frameworks. These materials help participants understand standardization as a familiar societal issue and encourage them to connect learning with “thinking, choosing, and acting.”
In the 2026 academic year, we will conduct “Standardization Classes” using two programs: “Sentaku (Choices),” focusing on AI management, and “If I Were the CEO: Ver. 2026,” focusing on environmental management.
“Sentaku (Choices)” is a game-based tool for learning business management in the AI era. Participants take the perspective of a business executive and consider AI-related technologies, systems, and frameworks. They explore how AI can be used in business, how organizations and work may change, and how AI can contribute to solving societal challenges. Participants act as CEOs and formulate business strategies.
“If I Were the CEO: Ver. 2026” is an environmental management game that encourages participants to address environmental issues from a business leader’s perspective. With the 2026 revision of ISO 14001 in view, it covers climate change, the circular economy, nature-positive approaches, and the SDGs. Participants consider how to grow a business while reducing environmental impacts and using limited resources effectively, developing the ability to incorporate environmental issues into management decisions.
Since 2011, the Chubu University ESD Eco-Money Team has continuously developed game-based educational materials on standardization. The materials developed to date are as follows.

These materials are freely available as educational tools for business executives, students, children, and others to learn about standardization through games. Using international standards as a gateway, they provide opportunities to consider AI, environmental issues, the SDGs, climate change, the circular economy, and biodiversity as societal issues connected to everyday life, and to reflect on choices for a sustainable future.
The materials and explanatory guides are available as free research outputs.
