Secretariat for the Decarbonization Support Program for Supply Chains to Create a Green Products Market

Booth No. : 2-048

Exhibition Details

Tokyo Metropolitan Government supports supply chain decarbonization to create a green product market. This exhibition highlights support for Tokyo-based companies to calculate their Carbon Footprint of Products (CFP) and cut emissions, and showcases green products developed through this support. Visitors can also try hands-on activities using weights, quizzes, and panel games to learn about CFP.

Summary of Business

Tokyo Metropolitan Government has been implementing the "Supply Chain Decarbonization Support Project for Creating a Green Product Market" since FY2025, as part of its efforts toward achieving Zero Emission Tokyo by 2050.
This project supports green product development by Tokyo-based companies or groups of companies, with the goal of creating green products that consumers choose.

The support is structured as a three-step process: "CFP Calculation," "Reduction Measure Planning and Implementation," and "Branding and PR."
First, the Carbon Footprint of Products (CFP), representing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across a product's entire lifecycle, is calculated to identify processes with high emissions.
Next, based on the calculation results, companies plan and implement effective reduction measures, such as reviewing materials or manufacturing processes.
Finally, for green products developed and produced through these reduction efforts, companies carry out branding and PR activities to communicate their appeal to consumers.
The Secretariat (Boston Consulting Group) provides hands-on support throughout the entire process, and selected companies (small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies) are eligible for subsidies to cover expenses related to implementing reduction measures and PR activities.

In FY2025, five products were selected for support: auxiliary materials for shirts, unfired tiles, sneakers made from recycled materials, construction formwork materials, and paper diapers. The selected companies are now advancing through the full process—from CFP calculation and the planning and implementation of reduction measures to branding the products as green products.
