Summary of Business

Carbon Recycling Fund (CRF)

Turning CO₂ into a Resource — Paving the Way for a Carbon Recycling Society
Addressing climate change while ensuring sustainable access to energy and resources is one of the world's most pressing challenges. Achieving carbon neutrality requires not only reducing greenhouse gas emissions but also rethinking how we use and circulate carbon throughout society.
Carbon dioxide (CO₂) is often viewed solely as an emission to be reduced. Yet carbon is an essential element of life, continuously circulating through the atmosphere, oceans, land, and living organisms. By learning from these natural cycles, we can explore new ways to utilize CO₂ as a valuable resource, creating opportunities for innovation, resource circulation, and sustainable economic growth.
Established in August 2019 as a private-sector initiative, the Carbon Recycling Fund (CRF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing carbon recycling innovation and its real-world implementation.

From Research to Social Implementation
CRF works with a diverse network of companies, universities, research institutions, local governments, and individuals to accelerate the development and adoption of carbon recycling technologies.
Our activities focus on three key areas:
・Research Grants: Supporting innovative research and emerging technologies with the potential to advance carbon recycling and foster the next generation of researchers.
・Public Relations and Outreach: Sharing knowledge, raising awareness, and creating opportunities for dialogue through events, seminars, exhibitions, and information dissemination.
・Policy Recommendations: Promoting dialogue among industry, academia, and government to help develop the market conditions, policies, and frameworks needed for carbon recycling to become commercially viable.

Beyond these activities, CRF facilitates collaboration across industries, regions, and international partners, connecting research and technologies with practical needs, markets, and investment opportunities.

Our Vision: A Carbon Recycling Society
CRF envisions a society in which carbon circulates sustainably across natural and industrial systems, creating new value while contributing to environmental sustainability.
By connecting people, technologies, knowledge, and markets, we aim to bridge the gap between research and real-world implementation and help establish carbon recycling as a sustainable business.
Together with our members and partners, CRF is working to build a Carbon Recycling Society where innovation, resource circulation, and economic development go hand in hand.
