Summary of Business
Taro’s Origami Studio is an art studio founded in the United States in 2011 by origami artist Taro Yaguchi, dedicated to sharing Japanese origami culture with international audiences. With bases in Philadelphia (headquarters) and New York in the U.S., as well as a studio in Asakusa, Tokyo, the studio develops a cross-disciplinary practice centered on origami, spanning art, education, experiential programs, and business. Through these activities, it seeks to elevate origami—a traditional Japanese cultural form—into contemporary cultural value.
The studio’s primary business activities include the export and sale of Japanese origami products to the U.S. and overseas markets, origami workshops, artwork production, and performances. Our artists create original works and installations that are presented in exhibitions, commercial venues, and corporate events. A defining feature of the studio’s approach is its reimagining of origami not merely as a craft or pastime, but as an element of contemporary art and spatial design.
In the field of education, Taro’s Origami Studio offers origami classes and workshops for audiences ranging from children to adults, both in Japan and abroad. Programs are tailored for schools, cultural institutions, corporate training sessions, and international events, conveying origami techniques and their cultural background while fostering creativity and communication.
As part of its inbound-focused initiatives, the studio operates origami experience programs for international visitors at its Tokyo Asakusa studio. Designed as hands-on cultural content that transcends language and cultural barriers, these programs provide opportunities to deepen understanding of Japanese culture and are actively developed in collaboration with the tourism sector.
Another key pillar of the studio’s work is on-site performances and workshops for parties, conferences, and exhibitions. Live performances featuring large-scale origami and participatory programs add a distinctive cultural dimension and unique value to a wide range of events.
Through these diverse activities, Taro’s Origami Studio aims to expand Japanese origami culture globally while building a sustainable business model that connects culture and commerce, positioning itself as a U.S.-based origami art company active on the international stage.
